This album features recordings of songs that Séamus Ennis collected in Iorras Aithneach, Connemara, between the years 1942-1945. Twelve songs have been chosen from the collection of manuscripts, which are in Ionad Uí Dhuilearga, the National Folklore Collection, University College Dublin.


The songs which were chosen (by Saileog) for the album were collected from Colm Ó Caoidheáin, Meaigí Sheáinín Choilmín Nic Dhonncha, Veail Bheairtle Ó Donnchú, Seán Ó Gaora (Johnny Geary) and Peait Pheaits Ó Ceannabháin.
